Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Energy and Natural Resources Condemns Illegal Spearfishing and Consumption of Sea Turtle

The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Energy and Natural Resources has become aware of a video circulating on social media showing a sea turtle being speared and consumed. The Ministry strongly condemns this act.
Sea turtles are a protected species under national law, and it is illegal to hunt, kill, capture, or consume them. Anyone found to be in violation of this law will face legal consequences, including prosecution.
The Ministry takes such matters with the utmost seriousness and has initiated an investigation into the actions and claims depicted in the video currently in circulation.
The Ministry reminds the public of the vital ecological role sea turtles play and urges everyone to report any similar incidents to the relevant authorities. Protecting our marine biodiversity is a shared responsibility, and the we should all remain committed to enforcing the law to safeguard these species for future generations.
